Let the Light Shine Through

The great irony of humanity
Is that at our core
We are beings of pure light
And yet from birth our light is hidden
By our human form

As part of a physical existence
We experience many forms of pain
Physical, emotional, mental, spiritual
Each experience a jagged wound
In our outer physical armor

As the pain whittles away our humanness
Two options are presented:
Fill in the lacerations with earthly vices,
Denial, anger, suffering
Or let the light shine through
Allow our pain to become a beacon for others
A small glimpse of the face of God

The choice is ours
The latter, our purpose on earth

Love is All There Is

I tried to hide my love
For I believed that love was human
That it could be avoided or turned off
When it became too painful to endure

But love is of the Source
The Source IS love
And so I tentatively open my heart
To connection to my divine be-ing
To the Creator that both loves and expresses love through me
To the eternal truth of my oneness with the Divine
And the awareness that love is all there is

God’s Heart

As the sun descends,
Pink-tinged clouds float over the horizon
An exquisite band of color encircles the sky
Rising higher, growing brighter
A fiery triumph of red and love

Soon, red dissolves into night
Azure trees obscure the view
For a few moments, the world was held
In an embrace of peace
A message from the Divine
That despite unspeakable pain and sorrow
Love still prevails

Everything is Right in the World

I can think of a million complaints
Imperfections in my life
Yet as I marvel at the moon
The message is received:
In this moment, everything is right in the world.

Each petty grievance is erased as the moon whispers to me
The secrets of the Universe
There are grains of wisdom to be found in suffering
Suffering is largely a choice anyway
A choice to rise above or to remain immersed
In the details beyond our control.
