The Angels remind us that we have to look beyond the distractions and discomfort for the beauty in life. It’s an intentional practice, with some days more difficult than others. Yet every day has a sunrise and sunset. And there’s beauty in each of those. The rest is up to us to see.

Scattered Pieces of My Soul
As the sun rises again
The scattered pieces of my soul,
Strewn on the winds of time and change,
On waves of great pain and greater loss,
They call to me
Their voices lifting, lilting
Raising in vibration
To the tune of my own song
Calling, calling
Calling me home
And Spirit reaches out
Expands to embrace the rising chorus,
Gathers the lost children making their homes
In other people’s worlds
Raises its mighty wings with the rising light
And gently, tenderly assembles
My scattered, tattered bits,
My worthiness and belonging,
My gratified, satisfied soul,
Returned to perfect wholeness

Morning Star
And in the dim light I see her
Beautiful in her perfection
Stunning with her light
Behind a veil of stars
Inspiring greatness
Crumbling the darkness
To rise again in wholeness
As each day breaks
The magnificent morning star
Expanding in the hearts
Of all who witness her
For they are outshined
In her presence
Illuminated, enlightened,
Connected to her expanse
Creating the speck of a single lifetime
An abiding connection
The rising and the falling

Morning Reverie
And the birds sing sweetly,
the morning sun peeks gently
over the tops of trees
lining the wood’s edge along the creek,
a perfect circle through tree branches up high,
puffy clouds sharing hints of light
as I sip my tea
and listen to the garbage men
shouting to teach other on the next street
and the bullfrogs bellowing to the koi fish
in the neighbor’s manmade pond
And this day starts sweetly
as I wish all days would
for myself
and for you

A World Worth Saving
And there you spend your waking days
rising like the sun in the east
setting right all the painful wrongs
that ever crossed the lips of man
There you cross the valley
lighting up the shadows
that were once so carelessly tossed aside
by evil, hidden from the light of man
And there you lie down,
let the waves wash over you,
the sand bury your bones
until you rise up again,
as every drop, as every sea
you rise up as the bearer of wings
that drop their feathers like hope,
to the ground, a blanket of healing dreams
for a world worth saving

Happy Monday (4/8/13)

Heaven Sent
There is nothing more heaven-sent
Than freshly fallen snow
Or perhaps a sunrise, or sunset
Or the yawn of the cat as it luxuriates the day away
Or the giggle of a child
These things, I know deep in my soul, make God smile too.
